No matter if you are a weekday worker, a weekend warrior, or both, the new Ford F-150 is the perfect all around vehicle to meet the demanding Bay Area lifestyle and here is why…
1. Durability.
From hauling a ton of bricks to the job site, to hauling snowboards up to Tahoe, you’ll be able to pack 2,730 lbs. of payload on the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 4x4 model, which is enough to handle the heaviest of chores or largest of weekend play things.
There is no need to baby this truck when you're hauling for work or pleasure. The military grade aluminum body and the high-strength steel frame can take a pounding. However- just what is “military grade aluminum” anyway?
Well, to start, aluminum is not the strongest of metals. When you combine it with other metals and heat them up, it creates an alloy. In doing so, the Ford engineers have come up with something even stronger than steel: military grade aluminum!
2. Comfort and Convenience
While rough and rugged is great, so is style and sophistication. The new F-150 has both when it comes to its interior cabin.
William "Sinbad" Coffman, Assistant Sales Manager of San Leandro Ford says “the interior of the new F-150 is more like the interior of a luxury car than a truck. There’s under the seat rear storage, door trim panel bins and fully flat rear load floor, all which makes for plenty of room and a spacious cabin. There is even a space for a laptop computer inside the flow-through center console”!
The cockpit of the new F-150 also has some cool new gadgets onboard. Most notably is the 360-degree split view camera system which uses four separate cameras - one in the grille, one in the tailgate and one under each side mirror. All this high tech produces an ultra-cool feature in the guidance system, which is the “Dynamic Hitch Assist”. This is going to come in real handy if you happen to be towing your boat to the Wes McClure ramp at Marina Park. Just use the camera to provide a direct line-of-site guide straight to your hitch ball, and away you go!
However, the fun doesn’t end there after you hooked up the trailer…oh no. We all know how difficult backing up with a trailer can be. Those days are now long gone. Once you get to your destination, the new F-150 is the first truck to offer “Pro Trailer Back Up Assist”. Just rotate a knob in the cabin right or left (in the direction you want the trailer to go) and the truck automatically steers itself using the rear-view camera!
3. Style
The F-150 is all about style, and that is important because when you are cruising down Marina Boulevard, you want to be turning heads. And that will indeed be the case, no matter which of the models you choose from. Whether it be the iconic XL, the Raptor and its bold off-road styling or the plush Limited edition, it’s hard for another truck enthusiast not to stop in his tracks and stare at the new Ford F-150 going down the road.
4. Power
So, let’s take a peek at what is new under the hood.
Dan Andrade, Service Manager of San Leandro Ford notes “The twin turbo Eco-Boost V6 delivers plenty of power and low end torque, while still having plenty of pep with the benefit of increased fuel efficiency."
In keeping with an eye towards savings, the Ford engineers have also designed a new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine to provide best-in-class torque for a V6 engine, beating its gasoline- and diesel-powered competitors. This new engine provides better low-end and peak engine performance, which is ideal for hauling heavy payloads and towing heavy trailers.

5. Safety and Testing
No matter if you are off the beaten path in Leona Canyon or on the crowded 880, you will be safe and sound in the new Ford F-150.
The SuperCab and SuperCrew models when equipped with optional Forward Collision Warning, is the only pickup truck to earn a NHTSA 5-star safety rating and IIHS Top Safety Pick, and features 31 safety-related innovations.
When it comes to safety testing, we all know it can get pretty chilly in Northern California and Ford has taken that to the extreme. Combining 10 million miles of testing in labs, proving grounds and desert locations and hauling in temperature extremes as little as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, ensures the new F-150 delivers the pinnacle in safety and dependability.
Like we said…no matter if you are hauling a ton of bricks for work or heading off for the Lake Chabot with a kayak in the back, the new Ford F-150 is the perfect truck for the active Bay Area lifestyle.
